Towers of Gattilusi

Near the archaeological site of Paleopolis you will see the three Towers of Gattilusi, reminiscent of the time when the Genovese were building castles and towers on the island to ensure their sovereignty. The Genovese ruled the island after 1355 since it was owned by Venetians till then. The Genovese rulers of the island belonged to the house of Gattilusi.

The towers are built partly with ancient building materials from the nearby archaeological site and have a rectangular shape (10x11,7 meters). One of the three is preserved almost intact till nowadays.
